I always wanted to join the Army since I was a kid. I talked to a recruiter when I was 17 and was hooked. They talked about how it is a family. After basic training, I did a tour in Iraq. One of the things that stuck out to me, was one of the small schools over there. These kids were attending school and learning while there was a war raging not 100 yards away from the school. I couldn't help but think about being a teacher there. The courage it took to teach kids and be a model for them to stay calm even though times are rough. I think about that when I am serving the kids we serve at Josiah White's. The kids here are waging wars either at home, or with themselves, and we need to be that positive model like those teachers I saw. I want them to be successful and come alongside them and help them fight those battles. There is warfare going on within our youth, and we need to cover them with the Armor of God and let them know we will fight for them.
